Catalina not compatible with Numark NS6

What is your point? Operating systems typically are not built to support 3rd party apps. Normally the opposite is true. If a third party developer recommends not upgrading an operating system because it won't support their app I think it is an indication that the third party developer no longer is interested in supporting their app.

and why are these companies allowing the death march of working equipment into landfill.

I'd like to know why the NS6 doesn't work on Catalina as well. I've not been able to use my NS6 for months now. Would be nice if there is a fix for the unsupported driver.

If that isn't possible, I'll have to install Windows 10 on Bootcamp I think. Or could this work in a virtual machine?

You can install Windows 10 using Boot Camp Assistant or using a virtual Machine like Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox. You'll have to check with your third party product developer to see if they support that configuration.

Hi Jorenjm,

could work in a vm, depending on your mac hardware. Performance penalty is too high in my opinion for it to be reliable solution for me on peasant spec machine.

Bootcamp would be a better option vs windows vm.

Rolling back to older OS and forfeit some new macOS features is really the only option. laptop firmware permitting.

more reading online suggests the USB chipset used on the external hardware coupled with Catalinas dropped support for anything 32bit.

I have a ticket with Numark asking to confirm. But they’ll prob come back with link to their supported/unsupported list.

Thanks for the replies!

I downloaded VMware Fusion since it's free (and I read that it's better than VirtualBox). I was able to install and select the driver in Windows 10. But then the audio still needs to pass through the MacOS audio devices and there is no NS6 USB audio device anymore in Catalina obviously. So the sound won't reach the NS6.

So the only possibility will be using an older OS or Bootcamp I think.
