watchOS 7 Battery Drain

I updated my series 4 Apple Watch to WatchOS 7 today. I use my watch all day and usually have about 30% battery left when I go to bed and start changing. Today my phone got to 10% by 2:30 pm! Why is this drawing so quickly?

I have the same problem with a Series 4 Watch and the Watch OS7. There is sever battery drain which I never experienced before. At first I thought it was from using the new Sleep function but apparently not since a fully charged watch when I went to sleep was down to 74% when I got up. However by 3:00 PM I was down to 12%. My Watch screen seemed to freeze from Notifications. I couldn't put down the list. After rebooting my watch the function worked fine but the battery was at 12%. I am guessing the notifications got hung up and was constantly doing something in the background.

Glad to see if anyone has suggestions on how to investigate what is going on to help the Apple technicians figure it out.

Same problem as everyone else here, Series 4. Updated when WatchOS 7 came out a few days ago - was hoping things would improve after a few days when the background tasks quieted down after the update but no such luck. I typically would end my day with around 60% battery remaining, never had to even check the battery. Since WatchOS 7 I'm down to about 30% by about 3PM, same activity as prior. I'm really hoping this gets fixed ASAP.

I've had four chats with Apple but nothing other than an Apple employee cyberstalking me. This is right after my chat. Scary.

I love my series 4 watch and until this update it always had plenty of charge for a full day. Now It runs out during the day and goes dead. I was going to buy the new series 6 watch but after these problems I’m not going to at least not until I have faith that Apple is going to fix the problem and get my battery usage back to the way it was. This is a BIG DEAL FOR ME.

It did not improve with turning off a bunch of stuff 😔 and now it’s not charging fast enough to compensate for the drain. 6% and falling on charge! 😡

Would normally put it onto charge when I wake up and it’d be fully charged by the time I’m ready to leave.

Also getting a “buffering” spinny clock like it’s initialising when I tap or first put it on, what’s that about? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Same here. I have a Series 4 and since updating to watchOS 7 my watch is not even making through my 12 hour shift. I used to be able to end my day with about 40% now it isn't lasting half a day.

A 45 minute outside walk workout used to take about 12% of my battery, now it is draining about 33%.

I tried turning the hand washing detection feature off and it didn't help much. In 6 hours of regular use (no workouts, ECG, or GPS use) the battery still drained to 53%.

Apple Watch Series 4. Same problem. Today it had gone down 3% in the first 15 minutes I was wearing it (right off the charger). It was almost completely dead by 1PM. I fully charged it again and now at 8:30PM it was warning me that it was almost dead.

Before WatchOS7 I would still have 50%+ after a long day. I easily made it through the day and that even includes running 60+ minutes on the treadmill. Watch is nearly useless if I have to keep taking it off and charging through the day. I've tried rebooting. I have not tried unpairing it and then pair it back to the phone, but I see that others have tried that without success. I wonder if the heart rate monitor is running more often than it used to? Checking the battery healthy my watch reports it is 98% healthy so it is not a bad battery. This is definitely a bug that Apple needs to patch ASAP.

That's how they communicate with you. They aren't able to chat with you if you don't open up a connection with them XD.
