Email photo as attachment, not embedded, in iOS 14

Sorry - that's rubbish, when you save as HTML Outlook converts it into a the same format as a webpage allowing you to bulk copy the images. Outlook performs a conversion to crappy webpage email that apple mail creates

Except the sending email is actually yahoo and my phone used to easily send photos as attachments until I upgraded to iOS 14 and now I can’t get it to do anything except imbed the images instead of making them attachments so your reasoning is flawed because you are blaming the receiving email for an issue caused by the iPhone, makes no sense

Actually, Martin_Williams, all Outlook did was go through the various attached files, that are a part of the received email (by the International Internet Standards governing email creation and interchange), and output each attached file as a separate file.

This is easily verified by simply looking at the raw text of the received email. (I don’t know if Outlook still has this capability, but I used this Outlook capability decades ago, when learning the International Internet Standards governing email creation and interchange.)

I have exactly this issue!! I have to upload every evening my daughters homeschooling to her google classroom, I take pics throughout the day that I send to my email and then upload.

I cannot now do this!! As just comes across as thumbnails if I drag and drop...

since the update I have no longer been able to upload images to my Instagram stories and apply stickers and music to them. I can upload a picture without any annotation (boring) , but as soon as I add sticker or music to said picture once shared the image disappears and only the stickers remain. This is not good when I use IG to promote my business!!!!!

HELP!!!! @apple you need to fix this ASAP please!

Completely unrelated issue and one you should report to Instagram developers; it’s an issue with their app and they need to fix it, not Apple.

Why do you send yourself an email with pictures instead simply uploading photo you took directly to Google Classroom? Emailing yourself in that case is unnecessary step…

in regards to Instagram, just seems very timely that both these issues occurred on the same day of the update. I have contacted IG several times to no avail.

All such are workarounds, Scamp468, that help cause the very tiny subset of email clients (consisting of a single email client and its derivative, so far as all known research, shown here, on the Community, has found) to “do the right thing”™️.

As such, all are fragile, subject to being broken by any tiny change within the web of interactions involved in transferring emails.

This «sill[iness]» is due to the «silly» programming of that very tiny subset of email clients.

No other email clients exhibit this «sill[iness]».

Photos are attached to email. I have no issue sharing photos with my friends or family. They all can save them when they want. In iOS Mail app long tap on any image in email message, then save photo (if you want to keep one only) or save photos (if you want to save all that are attached to email). Similar way works macOS Mail app.

Not sure what you are on about it. It sounds as app you use lacks some basic functionality allowing to save attachments. Make sure to send feedback on it to it dev team to sort that out.

Wow, that works! The one second video I took by placing the phone down on a desk, so it's just a black screen, is less than 100 KB, so the size is nothing. Just wondering how you access it easily though, because it's going to get buried over time as I take more and more photos. I tagged it as a Favourite, which is all I can come up with for now.

This is so frustrating! I send images to my work email, then have to go into the email, save each image in paint... ridiculous.

And forget about composing an email for a work colleague with pictures.

You appear to be somebody who has direct knowledge of how computers, the Internet and all the software and hardware works. And you also appear to be somebody who speaks in the language of somebody who knows these things, as opposed to the every day lay person. So perhaps instead of saying “you should do a functionality test”, you can outline the way to perform this functionality test. Because all I know is that I used to be able to send images as an attachment using the same email program that I have always used for the last 10 years of owning an Apple phone, with the same email address, and now I can’t.
