Every screen shot I take turns out super dark, like the brightness is turned all the way down or there's a dark grey filter over it. I can't figure out what's wrong, thought it was the ios14 update but my friend isn't having the same issue at all.

I have the same thing. But I’ve been using the zoom function to dim my screen further.
I just turned off zoom and the screenshots come out as they should.
Maybe there is another option in the accessibility for this.

I’m having the same issue. 12pro ios14 with hdr video. Screen shots of the video have a darker filter
If you’re reading or looking at your phone at night in the dark the low light filter can make the screen darker so it’s more comfortable to read.
You are correct! Just tried that and that is my issue as well! Bummer as I have video I wanted shots from recored in HDR
Have you tried:
Settings/Accessibility/Zoom/Zoom filter/ None
Yes, I’ve tried every suggestion in this thread. I guess my next step is to visit an Apple genius store :/
It may be your zoom filter.
you may have zoomed out.
3 finger double tap to exit zoom and try again.
zoom filter can be turned of in zoom settings.
My settings like you mentioned are already set like this with zoom off and the screenshots are all still dark.
My settings are set like this already. Same as Amp430 below. This seems to be a bug that hopefully they fix soon.

I have the 12 MAX PRO and my setting for Zoom are off and Zoom filter set to nine by default and my screen shot appear grey. Anyone find the real solution yet?
I have my filter set as none and the zoom turned off but it still doesn’t work??:((((

I just upgraded to iOS14.3 on iPhone 12 Pro Max and am still experiencing this dark filter phenomenon on video screenshots.
