I own a series 5 and I was wondering if the compass has an effect on increasing battery drain?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you’re wondering if using your Compass can affect your Apple Watch Battery. We can understand why you’d want to learn more.

Since the compass uses your Location Services, it can have some affect on your battery.

“Allow Compass to access your location

When you open Compass for the first time, it requests permission to access your location. Tap While Using the App to grant permission.

If Compass doesn't see your location, check its settings:

Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
Tap Privacy > Location Services > Compass.
Tap While Using the App.“ Use the compass on Apple Watch

It’s always a good idea to check your battery. Check your battery and charge your Apple Watch
