Battery life after update to iOS14

After updating my iPhone SE (2nd gen.) to iOS14, the battery life has suddenly got very much shorter (half a day before a recharge required as opposed to previously a whole day) and the phone feels warm all the time. I note that people have complained of similar 'behaviour' on other iPhones and earlier iOS updates, so is there a common cause of this phenomenon?
