ios14- blue dot at the upper left hand corner?

I updated to the IOS14 yesterday, and I’ve noticed a few new security features. However, I can’t find anything about a blue dot that’s appearing in the upper left corner of my phone. It is only present when I am updating a password in my settings>password tab, which seems suspicious but I suppose could be another security feature?

RED DOT on the Phone App Icon with no number in it. I just updated to iOS 16.1.1 on my iPhone SE and there is a red dot with no number in it on the corner of the Phone App Icon even though I have no missed calls and no messages. How do I get rid of it? Thanks
