Trying to delete OneDrive files and i am not allowed.

"The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items."

Keep getting this message when trying to delete files or folders from onedrive and every time i am asked for a password. These files are old, some empty and when OneDrive accessed from the browser, they do not exist.

has anybody faced same problem?

Thank you

Hi ca-t-mi,

Thanks for the post! We see you're running into some issues deleting content from OneDrive. We'd like to learn a little more about what's happening to see how we can help out.

Are you having issues deleting files and folders from any other locations on your Mac? That would help in narrowing this down.

Also, you mentioned being prompted for a password. Is it asking for your OneDrive password, an administrator account password, or something else?

If it's asking for an administrator password, does it accept it? Have you changed your password recently?

As a starting point, you might try clicking Apple menu () > Restart and testing again. Does that help? If not, let us know the answers to the above. The community may be able to assist further based on those results.

Take care.

I just had exactly the same issue..... it's a Microsoft thing.

This will probably not suit your situation, but it was fine for me.

What I did, after wasting so much time trying to delete a few files that wouldn't was - selected the whole one drive folder and clicked delete.

It worked!

Deleted the app, re-downloaded and started again 😎
