iTunes fails to update my iPhone to iOS 14

I've downloaded iOS 14 on my Windows PC with iTunes. Every time I try to update my phone, I get an error. It's also asking me these really odd questions about applying the update. I've never had iTunes ask these questions before.

After getting these odd errors, I'm taken to this webpage:

Still having the issue even with the latest iTunes update (12.11.0.26). The problem appears to be that even though you enter the passcode to update the device the OS seems to still think it is locked, that's why disabling the passcode is the only way to avoid this error. This never used to be an issue until several months ago. I'm very surprised Apple has not fixed it yet.

I had this same problem with 14.01, 14.1 and 14.2. I wrote it all up in this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252006398.

The work around is to update via Wi-Fi, then you don't have to delete your passcode. Alternatively, put your phone into DFU mode (https://www.imore.com/how-to-iphone-ipad-dfu-mode -- I think DFU is a wildly appropriate acronym) and restore it from your iTunes backups. Takes a loooong time, especially if you have a lot of music and/or photos on your device.

Bonne chance!

This became an issue after I updated my PC from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I use a proper Lightning cable.

I've never seen the warning about changed settings recently, and I'm pretty sure that's what is causing this issue. Anyone know how to get rid of that? It asks me about these settings that have never changed every single time I sync my phone. Syncing works fine, just can't update iOS.

I'm on the most up to date version of iTunes 12.10.10.2

iPhone 11 Pro 256 GB with iOS 14.0.1

Windows 10 (fully up to date)

Trying to update to 14.1

First I'm prompted to enter my passcode.

iTunes extracts the software.

iTunes backs up my phone

Then I get that silly "Apply Changes" warning. I've tried both "Apply" and "Don't Apply" neither makes any difference.

Then I get error 4000.
