Safari 14.0

I'm on Catalina 10.15.6 - Just download the new Safari 14.0 and it is painfully slow! In addition it seems to take up a massive amount of my memory as well. It's especially slow when trying to log into secure websites. Anyone else having this issue. (wish I hadn't updated)

OK, done what you suggested.

In safe mode Safari is still awfully slow/bloated

I tried taking a few screenshots of the activity monitor, if they could be of help:

When run the Apple Diagnostics, the report stated "no issues found", reference ADP000

I have read on another thread on this forum that the issue could be solved by uninstalling some extensions that Safari would have installed during update -> https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251805466?login=true

Any hint towards a solution is welcome, thank you in advance.

Hello custommilt,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

We see that you are having an issue with Safari running very slowly after updating to macOS Catalina 10.15.6. Let's restart the computer into safe mode and test the issue there. See this support article for how to do this:

Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

We would also like you to use Apple Diagnostics to check your computer. See this article:

How to use Apple Diagnostics on your Mac - Apple Support

Once you have run these tests, get back to us with the results and we can go from there.

Best regards.

I'm on Catalina 10.15.7 and after the new Safari 14.0 update Safari doesn't work. At first it would freeze (beachball) when I would press CMD+N (for new window). But now it just freezes from the get-go when I launch Safari.

I've tried restarting in Safe Mode, which leads to the same results. Using Apple Diagnostics doesn't find anything wrong, yielding the reference code "ADP000". Like @marco79mac, I also took a glance at the Activity Monitor, and saw that when frozen Safari is using GB of processing and Memory on my 2019 iMac Retina 5K.

Thanks for responding. Let's start with Safari, it's running better now, took a couple days for it to do, whatever it had to do, to sync in with my MAC. - But let's be frank, it's still slow, always has been slow. I'm hoping it will get settled in and at least be serviceable.

As to the Utilities: I can't get them to work. (I'm on a Mid 2012 13" MAC) and I used the correct procedures which seems about the same at the later MAC's. Anyway the only thing that appeared is a display saying it need to recover my web service and prompted me with a login for my Network (after I selected it). I did this twice, once with the WIFI turned off and once with the WIFI turned on. I went ahead and logged in and all I got was a display "Applesupport.com" or "Apple.com/Support" I don't remember which and some kind of logo. Then nothing. Wasn't even clickable. Oh and I did it twice again using the computer's keyboard with the same results.

Anyway thanks for the response, I'll live with it as is now since I'm not depended upon my computer anymore.
