WatchOS7 update problems

My series 3 completed an auto update overnight to Watch OS7. Today it has shut itself down at least 3 times, locked itself while on my wrist about 4 times, failed to load complications on multiple faces (weather, activity rings, date etc), disconnected from my phone at least twice. It has also dropped to less than 50% battery in about 8 hours, normally it is still in the 80’s. Is anyone else having these issues? This has been the buggiest upgrade I have seen.

Hi everyone, I just dropped off my MacBook Pro for warranty service and asked the "Genius" who was helping me about the

Watch OS7 7.01 Software Problem.... He actually acknowledged the issue and said they were working on a fix for the next Software update release....

This is the worst! My S3 GPS/Cellular watch is running 7.0.1 and is constantly rebooting. Thought the issue was related to an app that was loaded so I reset the watch. Had a **** of a time getting it to erase. Finally got it to erase and reloaded it. Then the problem happened again (didn't notice until later). So I went to reset it again (with the intent of not loading any extra apps). Couldn't get it to disconnect from my account because it kept rebooting. Finally got it to from my phone, but the watch still acted like it was connected. So after dozens of tries, the watch finally gets into pairing mode. But it reboots every 3 minutes or so. So once I get it to start pairing, it reboots and never pairs... WTH???

Info Apple iCulture news: is it true that Apple is currently doing business ???

Unfortunately, watchOS cannot downgrade, so Apple Watch Series 3 owners don't have the option to roll back to watchOS 6, the latest stable update. The release of watchOS 7.0.1 has also not resolved the issue.

If you have an Apple Watch Series 3 and are having issues, we recommend selling it second hand so you can upgrade to the Apple Watch SE for a reasonable amount.

Hey all,

I was on the beta and I had this issue with my S3 it started occurring on the 7th July 2020 and it has rendered my watch useless so in order to see if it is a widespread issue with what I believe is the issue can you do me a favour and check in the Watch app > General > Diagnostics Log, try and look for ‘panic’ if you find one please send a screenshot of the file. And I’m sorry to say your watch is screwed, it happened with mine too and apple don’t do anything

My series 3 completed an auto update overnight to Watch OS7. but ever since it has restarted at least 3 times each day.

I went to an apple store, they said maybe it's because of charging accessories ( which all of them are original in the box apple brand) then they told me I need to reset the apple watch, it may help, which I did and unfortunately after one day the same problem occurred again, and I really don't know what to do. Since I am a teacher and commercial manager, I really need my apple watch everywhere I go. when will it be fixed?

Hey,

The same thing happened to me. If your watch is still paired can you go to the Watch app > General > Diagnostics Logs and try and find one which says ‘Panic’ if you find one can you send a screenshot of the log, not the whole log just the start of it. I need to see if I have the same logs as you. If so then we need to see if this is a distributed issue. And then we can take action from there. I’ve been having this issue since 7th July when I was on the beta, since then I’ve gone back to watchOS 6 and the issue remains. Hope you can help. And my Twitter is @AurtherNadeem if you wanna talk there.

Thanks

I'm glad I'm not the only person having this issue.

I've done the update to WatchOS 7.0.1, so far it hasn't helped. I previously un-installed all apps except 2 critical ones. Now I've un-installed everything and we'll see if that helps or not. Keeping my finger crossed that it's related to WatchOS and not the apps since it might be a little harder to get the third-parts developer to correct that problem (corner case).

having the same issues... updating was difficult: got notification that update was available but kept getting notification that watch needed to be plugged in with 50% or more battery life and phone on wifi nearby - which is always was - but update failed several times. now since successfully updating, it crashes ALL DAY LONG! it won’t properly display complications and activity wipes out until finally showing accurate info many minutes later... which is extremely frustrating while exercising. I’m baffled how this wasn’t evident during testing of this update prior to its release... ordered newest apple watch prior to learning of these issues - please fix this before I get so turned off that I just return my new watch after it arrives...

I can report a very similar bug regarding the "Digital Time" complication on Infograph and Meridian watchfaces.

Apple Watch Series 5, watch OS 7.0.1. I use the always-on mode.

This complication disappears intermittently, for a few seconds or a minute or so. The problem started after upgrading to 7.

I reported this today to Swedish Apple Support. They suggested that I:

1/ "build" a new watchface in the Watch app in iPhone.

2/ un-pair the watch from iPhone and then pair it again.

None of these two actions have helped. The problem remains.

Let´s hope that the next release of the OS fixes this.

/Magnus
