Battery drain

Incredible drain in 6 hours down to 20%!!!

I have to smile thinking about using it for sleep tracking- ha!! I'm curious to hear of any series 6 watches having the same issue - remember last time Apple did the iPhone upgrade and it choked all but the latest versions resulting in a nice lawsuit...

Come on Apple, what's the fix??

Reading everyone''s post, it seems to me that the problem is in both watches upgraded with the new firmware in the watches 5 and below, along with the new watch 6. Something in the firmware is draining the battery at a greater rate than anticipated. Perhaps Apple will check into that and issue an update soon.

For me, when I go to bed, I will be sure to charge the watch and see how we do. I did go through and either uninstalled apps from the watch that I would not need. Since I am isolating, I am not too far from my iphone 8plus or my imac. I also did some with things not updating to see if that might do some good.

When I got my new watch yesterday, I did a restore from backup as I am replacing my watch 5. I plan on seeing if my wife will wear it. Then I checked for a software update (firmware) and there was none.

I am hoping that this might give some insight from my point of view and maybe Apple will look into why both the update and the new phone has this issue. It has to be in the firmware(software) that was recently released.

I just returned my second Series 6 because of an unanswered battery issue.

My wife and I bought watches together. Both series 6. Both came loaded with ios7.

Hers works great and after a full day of about 14 hours, she still has at least 50% battery left. My watch, even set exactly like hers goes completely dead after 6 hours.

I made sure the settings of the two watches were exactly the same - no differences. She uses hers more than I use mine.

I unpaired mine, re-paired, no change.

I paired my watch to her phone for a day and it got better, but still not what she's getting.

I did a total reset on my phone, full erase and reset. Paired as a new watch again and... no change.

I have iPhone Xs

My wife has iPhone X

Same carrier, same network, pretty much same settings.

Took the second watch back to the store today as I can't waste anymore days on this issue that Apple needs to fix. They wanted me to try one more. Really? You're wanting me to believe I not only bought a lemon to begin with, but the replacement I bought was also a lemon? If that's the case, I don't want this product!

Anyway, I love the device but until they fix this, I'm not buying another one.

Cheers

Funny how Apple won't tell you it's not the watch. They would rather a whole bunch of us try two or more watches and then return them for refund, than to admit they have a problem in the ecosystem that they don't know how to locate and fix.

The watches are fine. Its something in each of our set ups - iPhone, computer, iCloud... Something is affecting the battery performance outside of the watch and it won't matter what you do settings wise.

With this issue and how terrible the new HomePod Mini is performing - lousy sound and won't stay connected to the network, I thing Steve Jobs would be ripping his hair out and firing the whole lot!

Thanks for responding!

I get that this will save battery life but why should I have to stifle my watch when it was getting great battery life before the new IOS install? I am VERY disappointed. All I have is a nice new watch face with no extra features (since I switched them off) and having to charge my watch twice a day and definitely no sleep tracking because it won’t make it through the night. I bet this is not an issue for the iwatch 6....

I have had the same experience following the update to watchOS 7. I did not change my routine at all and the battery performance is abysmal. I used to go to bed with the watch battery at 35% and after the update, the battery is at around 10% an hour before I go to bed. The response from Apple is to change the settings on my watch so that I limit the functions of the watch. That is a terrible suggestion (and I know that is an understatement).
