Iphone 11 cracked camera lens

Couple days ago found my 5 month old iPhone 11 with a cracked lens from out of no where called up apple support looking to repair the issue but got told by the service staff that I have to replace the whole device which is going to cost another $500 which is ridiculous, im okay with repairing it although I did not cause the device's camera lens to crack as it would be cheaper to repair that damaged part but asking me to fork up an additional $500 is too expensive considering that this is a $1000 phone. And what I dont get is how can this happen when im very careful with my phone which has a case on it which has still managed to get a crack on the lens. ANYONE WITH THE SAME ISSUE AS ME?????
