A voice over icon and numbering on my text options at start up - how to remove them please

Hello, I have just upgraded to a Mac Book Pro-version 10:15:5 running Catalina. I am getting very frustrated with a microphone option that appears on every start up and appears to be 'on' unless I select the 'sleep' option. It also places little numbers next to my options when moving around screens. It is very disruptive. I have looked through other community discussions and unselected everything suggested in users and groups and Accessibility. Has anyone got any ideas on how to remove this please?
