My update installation fails every time and says "Request has timed out." What do you suggest?

It stays "about 2 hours and 21 minutes remaining" for about 20 minutes and then it gives me this error: I tried to move from Big Sur to Monterey thinking that perhaps I needed to go from 11 to 12 before 13. This is the error I get when I try to upgrade to Monterey: “The operation couldn’t be completed. (PKDownloadError error 8.)" I'm not sure what is wrong and I would love any advice on how to fix this. I appreciate any help! Thanks!

Mac stuck on checking for updates while updating macOS I'm trying update my 2017 iMac to Big Sur 11.6.4 from Big Sur 11.6.3 and all I get is a spinning wheel in "checking for updates". Is there any way to fix this [Re-Titled by Moderator]

From the description it sounds like the internet connection is too slow OR Apple Servers are overloaded. Suggest connecting via Hardwired to Access Point / move laptop very close to A/P for best Wifi signal
