Logic Pro can‘t recognise files, 8 bit error

My project was working just fine, but as I restart it now it says that 31 files are unrecognisable. There seems to be some 8 bit error or so. This is another error message I get: "Logic Pro X found 31 audio files in 8 bit format."... However this is really strange as everything was working just fine just before I closed project and open it again. These are chapters in my audiobook and I fear they are all lost...

I have deleted preferences, done repair disk etc. Tried to import and salvage with audacity but its just a lot of noise on the tracks. All work is done on my mac and internal drive.

This seems to be a know problem but no suggested fix?

Is there a way to save mye files?

Please help!

I am adding some images is:

Thank you for getting back to me and giving me some hope that this can be fixed.

I think the error occurred when I tried to bounce all tracks (7.5 hours). As you can see form image there is audio in the bounce track, where original is empty. Unfortunately the bounce track is un edited and raw, and all the takes are gone. See image: Bounce-vs-original.png

I have the project in a folder on my mac. Not the default logic folder. All audio files are within the project file. I have "show package content" and copied audio file to logic folder and tried to re-add them. Some are working some are not. So the number of corrupted files are smaller now. However some of the files is not recognised by the project. Storedfiles.png

I have tried to fix files by opening them in VLC, Quicktime etc, but it does not recognise them. Audacity did import them as raw data, but the sound was distorted and unrecognizable.

I also tried to move project to an external hardrive (EX Fat), and open from the, but no luck.

Link to some files that does not work: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1eyF6lCgTtJmbY-sl9zG2SjWvSE4oXkeo?usp=sharing

Please let me know if you have any ideas, I´d be more than happy to provide further information.

Thank you.

Thanks for trying. I have 45GB available on my computer.

Could not find the exact data on Harddrive, so I am adding another image here if that makes sense.

Its and kinda old MacBook pro, but I have no issues with it. I have been running logic on it for a long time. I have experienced this issue before, but not to such an extend as now.

Anyways, I guess, I‘ll have to go back to re-recording again. Hopefully it'll be better second time around.

Thanks for helping out.

Like Wilddrums already mentioned, don't use FAT-formatted drives for work with Logic, never! They are good for transfering data between computers with non-compatible OS.

Are you able to re-create the original files from a backup?

Don't try to bounce a 7.5 h file, better to bounce shorter files. Also, I had a lot of problems with long sessions in the past, and 7 hours are quite long. I avoid them. If you like to have all the files in one session, better stack them vertically.

Hi. Yeah, I will stack chapter vertically instead for sure, as that was when the problem happened - I think. When I bounced the long file. As for back ups I could no revert for to long back and I did not have any other back ups. Unfortunately.

Es for external hard drive I had the problem when all files where on my MAC. Eg, I did not use an external hard drive for the project.

Tried everything I know, have a couple of PC Programs that I use and can get the audio but the file is noisy, gave it a try, sorry you lost a bunch of work, this should not be happening in a pro app. I know you were working with a big project but -no matter what- a professional application should not randomly corrupt files. Did your drive become low on storage space? How many GB do you have free on the system drive. What is the exact format of your internal drive, Mac OS Extended or the more recent format?
