Were you using Beta software on your XR? If you were, you need to remove the Beta profile before you can update to iOS 14.

To remove the Beta profile:

Go to Settings > General, and tap Profiles & Device Management.
Tap the iOS Beta Software Profile.
Tap Remove Profile, then restart your device.
