Why does my iPhone screen have a red dot in iOS 14?

After looking into the rest of the iPhones in our home I did find the reason the light is red at times.

when appearance in display and brightness is in light mode and increase contrast is on in accessibility display and text size the light turns red.

It means your microphone is on. The dot is normally orange, but with some background color schemes it appears red.

The red (actually orange) dot has nothing to do with your problem of not hearing with the built in earpiece. The dot simply means that the microphone is on, which is kind of necessary of you are having a 2 way conversation. The earpiece issue may be hardware, or perhaps the volume is too low to hear. Have you tried adjusting the volume while you are on a call? When you are not on a call the volume buttons only control the ringer and music volume.

The dot is always orange, but depending on the background color and transparency it may appear reddish.

If you open the Control Center it will tell you which app is or was using the microphone.

It looks orange to me in your screen shot. But no matter what color it is, all it means is that your microphone is on. To prove this to yourself tap the MUTE button.

Apple 🍎 allegedly providing a ‘Red/ Orange’- mine is red, but in any case, the red dot 🔴 indicates the microphone is being used by an app/ application, however each time I place a call I received indication that my microphone is in use but when verifying intently I cannot locate or discover any such app/ application so what is really going- on? Moreover, this matter is concerning and should be of a major concern .

When you are on a call the phone app has the microphone on, so the dot will appear. So it is the Phone app that is displaying the dot. To test that, next time you are on a call tap the Mute button and watch the dot disappear.

As you apparently didn’t bother to read any of the thread you posted to, the ACCURATE reply is that the red or orange dot means that you are using the microphone. That’s all it means.

To turn off the red dot, turn off the microphone in whatever app you are using it in. There is a 1:1 relationship between the microphone being on and the red dot. Of course, if you turn off the microphone to remove the red dot it will be really hard for the person on the other end of the call to hear you unless you shout and they are in the next room.

Apple 🍎 please instruct how to turn off the recording feature or reprogram your software. Clearly the explanations rendered do not provide and possible solutions. So how does one turn off the recording device, or is it that your alleged organisation works hand and hand with the government?

When making and receiving phone calls, I get the RED dot in front of the battery symbol/% symbol, and since that appeared, after the iOS14 update, I can no longer hear callers unless I put it on Speaker. I have gone through every setting and found no way to remedy this. Can someone who KNOWS how to fix this RED dot issue p-l-e-a-s-e help. I don't want to put my phone on soeaker to hear calls.

You are entitled to your opinions, but not to your fake facts. Apple has stated explicitly what the red or orange dot means→About the orange and green indicators in your iPhone status bar - Apple Support. It means that the phone’s microphone is on; nothing else. If you believe they are lying then you certainly should never use any Apple product. I think even a flip phone would be too risky for you, because even flip phones can be (and are) tracked. How about a cabin in the woods off the grid?
