Why does my iPhone screen have a red dot in iOS 14?

Lies! I do not have apps for when I’m calling my wife or anyone else and the orange and red dot show up. How about be transparent? I will never have an iPhone again

Can’t ever get a valid answer how to shut the RED dot off. Apple why don’t you tell how too? Or like another said , are you part of it. I’m saying GOODBYE to iPhoned. Your service is basically non- existent using a virus as an excuse and putting people or AI on line that know nothing. Hello Android.

The explanation makes perfect sense:

An indicator appears at the top of your screen whenever an app is using your microphone or camera. And in Control Center, you can see if an app has used them recently.

What is unclear about that?

To turn off the microphone turn off whatever app is using it. If you are on a phone call it is the phone app. So hang up the call, or tap the Mute button. Either one will turn off the indicator. If you are taking a picture exit the Camera app.

If the indicator is on and you are not using the camera and not using the phone app it will be off, unless the app you are using requires either. For example, it will be on for Snapchat. It will be on for Voice Memos. It will be on for FaceTime. Because all of those use either the microphone or the camera (or both).

BTW, the camera indicator is green, the microphone is orange. (I know it looks red, but compare it to the red hang up button).

Yes, don’t use the microphone or camera. That is the only way to turn off the warning that your microphone and camera are on.

OK, so it’s red. Have it however you want it. But that doesn’t change the fact that it means that your mic is on.

I don’t believe that. If the dot was on and you dragged down from the upper left corner at the top of the screen it would show in red what the app or function was.

It was red and orange on the same background

It’s been stated here so many times but here we go again.....you don’t want to see the red dot that indicates the mic is being used? Don’t use the mic. Simples!

I have same thing but it only shows up when I am on the phone with someone. Could it be Proximity locator? If so then no need to worry cause it’s safe.

I have that too but only shows up when talking on the phone.
