Keyboard typing periods randomly between words

My keyboard is suddenly randomly typing periods between words.

Is there a setting that can be adjusted?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.14

Repeated input from pressed keys My keyboard was acting weird over the past month. Repeated input from pressed keys - for example, I press x, and 2 x's show up. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

Are you putting two spaces between words?

You can turn that off in Keyboard System Preferences, Text pane.
