No Notification sounds when using Airpods after update to IOS 14

Hi there. I installed the IOS 14 on my iPhone X and when I use my AirPods and I’m on the phone, I can’t hear any sound for text alerts or sound alert when you plug the power in. These were all sounds I could hear via my AirPods while on the phone prior to the install. Are there any suggestions to fix this? It’s so inconvenient to be on the phone using AirPods while doing things hands free and miss text messages or have to manually check for a text message every so often. Please bring back the sound for notifications in the AirPods when using the phone. The notifications in the AirPods works when not on the phone but if on the phone, there is no simultaneous AirPod sound notification. Tika? Please please fix.

Just updated to iOS 14.2 this morning. Got a text message alert with sound while on a phone call! FINALLY!!

Try the newest update...14.2. That should take care of it! I was frustrated too!!

Apple support helped me, The volume has to be all the way up in the sounds and haptics screen in settings

Was corrected with 14.2, but 14.3 introduced the bug again for me. Missing all texts while on the phone.

ugh same here.. i thought i was going crazy! but, I’ve noticed (at least with my phone) that it doesn’t have to be with AirPods but on a call period.. if you’re on a phone call, you don’t get any type of text, WhatsApp, etc . notification (sound, screen pop up, or vibration). 😩

I just don’t understand how this could have been a “planned update” via the iOS 14. It’s life-altering in the worst way. If it’s not fixed, unfortunately I will have to find another phone brand. I have had Apple phones since around 2008 and loved them but loosing a vital feature to now have no notification sounds on the AirPods while being on the phone is really unacceptable for my lifestyle. It’s actually causing problems with me missing text messages because I “forgot” to check to see if there’s a message. It’s like I need to set a timer/reminder alert for

me to manually go and check for messages. I am researching other phone brands now to make sure this notification feature is not an issue with other phone brands. If anyone has suggestions on other phone brands that are best, please advise. I will give Apple a month or so to respond and resolve this but if not, I have to go with another phone brand. So sorry to have to go but I can’t live like this.

Yes, I agree with another posting about delayed typing now. You start typing and nothing happens for a few seconds and then all of a sudden, the text you were typing but couldn’t see is there. Also the autocorrect on basic words is missing. This update is so disappointing in so many ways. I really wish I had never done it. I learned my lesson though not to trust a new update, so thanks Apple for that crucial lesson.

I am having the same problem not hearing a text alert. It is super frustrating I am missing urgent text messages while on the phone. Please bring this back.

yes also a lag on the keyboard super frustrating.

Just to let you guys know, I spoke with a manager at Apple. I was the first person to inform them of this issue. They have their engineers looking into it. Only a number of people are experiencing this. BS. How in the WORLD can this happen and they not know this?! This is a major problem. I am missing texts, emails and all notifications!!!!!!! They said this would be fixed in the form of an update most likely when they can figure it out.

Very upset with this update iOS 14 because really I need my notifications to have sound while I’m on the phone please fix it ASAP as y’all can see everyone is have issues with that and is very frustrating to not be able to hear my notifications at all while on the phone!

Finally, an answer or feedback to my question!! I thought it was just me!!!!

I don't know how many hours I have spent troubleshooting this same issue! This is so inconvenient!!!!

Apple needs to bring this back ASAP!!!

This is pretty bad. I just noticed this today. I was in the call and I had 3 new important text messages I didn’t even know. Later to find that all notifications don't have sound when in call with the AirPods on. This needs to be fixed as soon as possible. Hopefully in the next update.

Apple already knows about this issue, but have not offered a solution. I’m hoping that it gets fixed with IOS 14.2. I’m thinking that update will be released next week around Wednesday or Thursday.🤞🏻
