So I've got aipod Pros, and an iPad + iPhone 11...
And I'm watching yt on my iPad, then I get a notification on my phone, and straight away the airpods connect to the phone, leaving the video playing on my iPad but I'm not receiving any sound... Regardless of what I do, the I can't get it back to normal unless I turn off bt and basically reconnection. It seriously bugs me and I'm not sure how to fix it without turning off bt on my phone.

Try and Reset your AirPods and see whether that resolves the issue.
Put your AirPods in their case
Close the lid. Wait 30 seconds, then open the lid.
On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings
Go to Settings > Bluetooth and tap the "i" icon next to your AirPods.2 Then tap Forget This Device, and tap again to confirm.
Reset your AirPods
With the lid open, press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until you see the status light flashing amber.
Reconnect your AirPods
With the lid open, place your AirPods close to your device. Follow the steps on your device's screen.
