Apple international warranty vs Apple local Australian manufacturer warranty

I live in Australia. I purchased an iphone SE 2020 from an online vendor, believing it to be an iphone originally sourced by the vendor in Australia. The vendor has since informed me that the iphone is sourced from Hong Kong and comes with an Apple international warranty, not a local Apple manufacturer warranty in Australia. If I require repairs to the iphone in future, can I claim on the international warranty locally in Australia or does the iphone need to be returned to Hong Kong for repairs? I've read the terms of your warranty here: https://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/ios-warranty-rest-of-apac-english.html This states that Apple may require that the iphone is returned to the country of origin for repairs - in this case, Hong Kong. Is this correct ? Thank you.

The iPhone world wide has never had a truly international warranty. The iPhone warranty has, and always had, a clause that service may be limited to the country of original sale. And if you bought a Hong Kong model iPhone in Australia, then the seller was obviously not an Apple Authorized seller, which means you bought a used device, not a retail new device.

Only Authorized sellers have access to Apple wholesale direct from manufacturer new products.
