Apple watch not showing notifications after updating iPhone to ios 14 and watch to watchOS 7.0

I just updated my iPhone XR to ios 14 and my series 5 apple watch to watchOS 7.0. Since these updates, my apple watch has not shown any of my notifications (such as when I get a text message or email) like it did before. I went to my watch's settings and my notifications are turned on, but I am not receiving anything on my watch. Does anyone know how I can get these notifications?
