iOS 14 causing wifi issue with WhatsApp audio calls

I have an iPhone 11 and just upgraded to iOS14. However, since the upgrade to iOS14 my WhatsApp audio calls don’t connect using my home wifi network. Before iOS 14, I have never had any issues making WhatsApp audio calls using my wifi network! Secondly, my wife who has an iPhone 6 and an older iOS version has no problem with WhatsApp audio calls using the same wifi network at home. Anyone out there has an idea if there is any way of fixing this issue? I have tried rebooting and resetting my router as well as phone, but the problem still exists. Look forward to some assistance. Thanks.

I have a similar problem.

Go into settings.

then tap on WhatsApp.

look for 'Local Network'

mine is turned off.

i suspect this is the culprit as I don't remember ever seeing that setting!! Before ios14

I have not had a chance to test this though.

I hope it is the solution.

I have the Wifi working today. The Local Network switch was missing when I posted the complaint yesterday. And as I wrote, the old phone had this switch. But it was missing yesterday. So what changed between now and yesterday? I did a Settings / General / Reset All Settings (as someone here suggested) and the Local Network automagically appeared again and it was already green. I had to enter the Wifi password again but that's a small inconvenience. Thank you.

I had a similar problem - WhatsApp was very slow to connect and often failed on WiFi and incoming messages delayed or not delivered until I switched on mobile data and things worked instantly. It was only WhatsApp and Facebook that I had the problem with and only on my WiFi. At first I linked this to an IOS 14 update but I had also changed internet provider. I discovered that the new router had various levels of content protection and although it was set at ‘Over 18 Adult’ it was preventing WhatsApp & Facebook Apps from connecting. Temporarily Turning off the protection allowed WhatsApp & Facebook to connect on WiFi so I re-set the protection to Over 18 and added WhatsApp & Facebook to the exceptions section of the protection and all works fine now. Strange that this only happened to these two apps (both Facebook apps) so I conclude there is something in the coding that triggers the protection software.
