iCloud Drive - Windows - Prompt when moving or deleting files

I just got a new Windows 10 PC and I downloaded iCloud Drive and have all of my files synced. Now when I try to move or delete a file (or multiple files), I always get a prompt that says "If you move file "xyz", it will be moved to this PC and will no longer be available in iCloud Drive on any of your devices. Would you still like to move it?". It gives me the options "Yes" or "No".

I have never seen this before and I don't ever recall seeing this on any previous PCs that I've used before with iCloud. Is there a way to turn this prompt off?

I've discovered a workaround, at least for if you need to delete a bunch of files at a time and don't want to keep clicking this "yes" box.

Put all files that must be deleted in one folder on iCloud Drive. Then delete the whole folder. You'll only have to approve the action once. Far from a solution to the whole issue, but should make deleting multiple files less painful!

Yeah this seems to be some recent update. Infuriating indeed. Effectively any software use outside of windows explorer is impossible now. Cannot edit any documents in adobe acrobat or text editors, manage files with total commander, move/delete photos with faststone image viewer.

This confirm window appears in a background and not even shown in the taskbar. Software just looks like it hangs up indefinitely (until I alt-tab to that invisible background confirm box).

I normally work on mac, but have a windows machine too, plus collaboration with other people on the same documents is now completely broken.

Really hope it will be fixed soon

This may be in the top 10 stupidest design issues I have ever seen. I copied several thousand files to my iCloud to move from one PC to another, when I was all done I of course wanted to delete all the files from iCloud because of course I only used it to move the files. You guessed it, I had to reply to the prompt 2,621 times, once for every file because of course there is no way to say yes to all. Apple really needs to give the user control about warnings or I will have to pony up and pay for DropBox and stop using iCloud this is so disruptive. Yes iCloud, we are adults and can make a clear decision to delete a file without being warned.

This is causing problems for me because it is preventing one of my programs from saving into the iCloud syncing drive.

When I hit save, this dialog pops up behind the program and stops the program.

I can switch to it and get it to continue if I am just saving, but if I am saving on exit or saving while opening a new file , it corrupts the save every time.

The Warning is alerting you to moving a file or files Off of iCloud Service. Meaning anything removed from iCloud will not sync or be available to another device used to access the moved file(s).

It would be equal to moving a file from USB to internal drive and taking that same usb to another computer and expecting to have access to the file you removed from the usb

Yes, I understand what it means but you are missing my point. I have never seen this warning message before on other machines. It only started happening when I moved to a new Windows 10 PC with a fresh installation of iCloud for Windows.

If I'm deleting a local file (not on iCloud Drive), I would not get this prompt. It is very annoying.
