Messages not staying pinned in iOS 14 on iPhone

I LOVE the Message Pin feature in iOS 14!!! However, I'm running into this issue...

I have 6 messages pinned, 2 group messages and 4 individuals. Every time I close my Messaging app and reopen it back up, one of the group messages is unpinned! It's always the same one. Sometimes when I go to add it back in, when I click "Done" it will disappear again. I reset my phone, which did not help.

I'm having similar problems. Pinned text conversations disappear, but when I send a new text to the recipient, it reappears, but not as pinned. I've had new group text revert to old named groups, with lots of history texts missing. It all feels rather random.

At least I've been able to restore old text history by sending new text to missing recipient.

The only Apple employees who regularly read these pages are the Hosts. They read to make sure that everything conforms to the Terms of Use. They don't have time to do anything else. There are also the Community Specialists who answer questions that have gone unanswered for more that 12 hours and which can be answered primarily by a referral to a support article.

I am having this same issue, except it doesn't pin any of the group messages. Sometime when clicking done, it shows them as pinned and as soon as I exit and go back, the group messages are gone. And sometimes the group message disappears as soon as I click done.

This is a great feature, but many of us would like to pin group messages. The fact that it pins and disappears must mean it's a bug with the new feature. Hopefully Apple will read this, as there isn't any other way to report bugs, which is annoying.

I have this same issue. I will pin a conversation and it will show up on the top of the message app. A while later though, it will disappear from the pinned area. What’s strange is, if I go and find the conversation in the list of messages and long press on it, it gives me the option to “unpin” which makes me think that it’s still being recognized as a pinned conversation, just not displayed as one.

When my "tricky message" disappears it seems to go back to the list view portion. When long-pressed it still shows up as "pinned" (option to unpin is in the menu).

Not an actual fix, but if you unpin one of the messages that has stayed in the pinned section, you are then able to re-pin both that message and the one that keeps disappearing to the top. It usually stays for a while, but no matter what the order is on top the same message usually goes back to the list view.

The Long press does show that the dropped group messages are still pinned when they are in the list view. The swipe to the right no longer will pin it back on top like it did the first time. However, if you click Edit then Pins, you can select it and it will go back on top. Not sure if it will stay or not, but just figured this trick out. I am assuming this is a bug that will eventually get updated by Apple. Hope this trick helps you at least get it back to the top when they drop off.

Cheers

I’m having the same issue with pinned groups mixed with Android users. I did notice that when I would go back to re-pin the convo, it was already marked as pinned. So I’d have to unpin it, then pin it again. I’m new to iPhone so I’ll still trying to figure things out. I’m glad I’m not the only one experiencing this. hope it gets fixed soon!

I am having the same problem. All my pinned conversations stay on my iPad Pro but not on my iPhone 11 Pro. There is one conversation that constantly gets unpinned. It is a group chat with 6 other people and there is one android user in that group chat. I have another group chat pinned with 2 other iPhone users and that one stays pinned. So I’m not sure if it is the android user or the number of people in the group chat.

And often times when I edit pins and go back in and add that group chat to the pins it will show up on top but as soon as I hit done, it disappears again.

I'm having the same issue! I used to be able to simply pin it back but that's not an option anymore. Now, the unpinned conversations show as pinned even though they are not. I pin 3 single threads and 3 group threads. All of my group threads are no longer showing up on top.

2 of my single thread pinned convos are android and all 3 of my groups are mixed.
