I would second den.thed's comments on abandoning using your iMac for serious gaming. FWIW, I built my own Windows 10 gaming rig to play each of the flight simulators that I have: Microsoft Flight Simulator X, X-Plane 11, Prepar3D v5, & the new 2020 Microsoft Flight Simulator. The key is the GPU as some of these, especially the new Flight Simulator, are extremely graphics intensive. For that, I would suggest going with the Nvidia RTX cards ... and I currently use the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro flight controller.

It really comes down to how "real" you want your flight experience to be. It can be very addicting ... and expensive!

I used a TrustMaster Force Feedback for Falcon 4 on my G3 iMac, but that was way back in the early 2000's.

Your best bet, is to check out the xPlane forum to see what the folks are recommending with newer Mac's.

Welcome!

I've not seen a lot of XPlane users here, in fact, not even many gamers or simmers. I suspect you will get faster answers at:

There is also a private site dedicated to X-Plane that has forums: https://www.x-plane.com/kb/

I racked up thousands of hours on that sim a lot but it was on a 2004 PowerMac running OS 10.4, so what worked well with my Saitek stick with version xplane 7 may not work on current versions.

Thanks den.thed. I looked at the xPlane forums but was reluctant to purchase something that might be incompatible. However most replies indicate almost everything will connect. So I'll try one. I did ask Thrustmaster and they advised their joystick wouldn't work.

Thank you for contacting Thrustmaster Tech Support

None of our joysticks work on iMAC. Depending which one, they work on PC, xbox one and PS4.

Hope that helps. Thank you
