Apple TV 3rd gen YouTube freezes when pausing video

OKAY, I'LL GIVE IT A TRY LATER TOMORROW. I JUST REDID THE OLDER VERSION A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO, AS I HAD INADVERTENTLY HIT THE UPGRADE UNKNOWINGLY.

I GUESS ALL THE COMPLAIN THAT WE ALL DID, FINALLY PAID OFF ALAS.

i am glad that i sold atv in the times of "YT pause problem" and got an android tv box for $35 with netflix, youtube and even airplay 2.

The answer to #2 is, YES!

I've been having the same problem with the ATV 3G. it's a mess when ever I pause on YT. It sucks. I've restore this thing twice thinking it might be the device. I just restored it again and it is still having the same problem. I guess it is the software: It's crap and needs to be fixed. The geniuses at apple screwed things up. Such a waste of time, when you have to retype in a million different pass words for each app. Please get it fixed.

I have been having this issue, which started this week. Mostly mine has been on YouTube. I end up just waiting it out until it resets itself as I can’t do much. Normally resets within. A minute or two.

How ironic that an Apple TV3 problem can be fixed with Windows, but not with apple OSX. Hope Apple sees this post and feels some shame, to fix the problem they created with software upgrade, while offering no solution for their loyal Apple customers.

Do I have to buy a windows computer to fix my Apple TV3 !!!

A few years ago I was forced to upgrade my original Apple TV to a TV3 because YouTube quit working completely and neither YouTube nor Apple would fix the problem, although they both acknowledged it exists. A lot of people had the same problem

Apple products cost more, but are well designed and last a long time. If Apple products have to be replaced regularly due to faulty software, then that changes the value proposition.

Sorry for rant, but I had to get it out.

I was keep getting apple error codes both on my PC and MAC. such as error code 21, 3904 etc.

so I wasn't able to downgrade.

one trick was, especially on MAC, while apple TV connected to MAC (usb mirco cable), unplug power of apple tv, plug back in and quickly select the older firmware before it settles and couple mins pass by.

I think this trick somehow bypassed errors and I was able to restore to older firmwares successfully. Thanks

Hi, in Catalina, when you connect to mac and the finder works.

Finder is the new place to back up, update, or restore your iPhone, iPad, apple tv and iPod touch. Just connect your device to your Mac and it appears in the Finder sidebar. And you can easily drag and drop files to your device.

And in general you can downgrade the tvOS.

Try and tell us.

Hi guys, I had the same problem, I investigate and find that the software version 8.4.4 or 7.6(8130) of the Apple tv 3 (APTV3) is the problem.

For the moment the solution was only downgrade the software version of tvOS and choose 8.4.3.

First I download the tvOS IPSW for your apple tv, and restore the apple tv with iTunes (press and hold the Option/Alt key in mac), while the APTV3 is connected to usb to the laptop.

Be careful, because as there two models of APTV3, the 3.1(2012) and the 3.2 (2013).

how to recognize, the aptv3.1 is the model A1427 , and the aptv3.2 is the model A1469

I have the version of apple tv 3.2, and choose the ipsw called appletv3,2_8.4.3_12H885, that in the apple tv say software version 7.5 (8097).

if you have the apple tv 3.1, you need tho choose the ipsw called appletv3,1_8.4.3_12H885.

For now, both versions of ipsw are signed for apple, and for this reason can be restored via Itunes.

I do it, and I fix it the problem when I press the pause/resume while I use the Youtube app. And don't choose, auto update, because you begin with the same problem.

I hope that this solution be useful for all. And if you have other option, share with all.

The link for the firmware is no longer available. It's like Apple wants the YT app to not work.

I connected 3rd gen Apple TV to itunes mac book. I can not restore device back to factory settings as pop up window says Apple server can not be connected to complete process. I called Apple to ask why server was down. They had no answer and I have tried for over 2 week period now. I can not find any other options to play with through the itunes connections other than try to connect to server

Anybody else have any more solutions?
