almost 10 times a day my phone dies when it’s got at least 50% battery and it won’t turn back on for about 2 hours. I’ve changed the battery in the phone multiple times but nothing changes. Is there anything else I can do before resorting to buying a new phone?

Have you ever factory reset the device?
If not, you could try this but complete an iCloud backup first as it will wipe your device and will need to be set up fully again.
