Can’t install iOS 14?

So following the release of iOS 14, my iPhone 8 seems to be stuck in iOS 13.7? When I navigate to Settings > General > Software Update, it says I’m in iOS 13.7 so my software is up to date, when clearly it is not. Automatic updates and installation are on.

After waiting to see if the update would come through, with negative results, I plugged my phone into my Microsoft PC where I have the iTunes app, so that I could attempt to manually download it from there. I was able to download the update, but installing it is where issues arise. I have restarted both devices, changed cables, checked the version of the iTunes app, etc. none of which worked.

When I plug my phone in, it says there is a new update (iOS 14) and would I like to download it to my phone? and when I click download, according to the progress bar at the top, it extracts the software and then moves on to backing up my phone. After this point, an error message appears saying it was unable to install the update, with an error code of 4000.

I even managed to stump Apple Support with this one! I was in a chat session and explained my problem, waited for a few minutes before the Apple Support employee left the chat without any answers/explanations.

As a result, I am here. Any information/help anyone could provide is most appreciated! Thanks!

Delete iOS 13 beta profile by going into settings> General> Profiles.

Restart and check for updates.

(worked for me)

Verify that you have tried these steps: If your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch won’t update - Apple Support

For OTA updates:

Also, I would recommend, Restart your iPhone, Connect to internet via Wifi (Not data), Ensure Low Power Mode is OFF, connect the phone to a power source (or phone sufficiently charged) and try again.

If you had installed iOS14 beta version or developer profile, then first: remove the beta profile.

For updating via iTunes:

Turn Passcode OFF, Turn Off Auto Lock on iPhone

Now, try again.

I tried to download iOS 14 on my computer and it would say it was working and then when it was done it would say error 4000 or something and the thing is it was an error that wasn’t on the list ;-; I have no idea what I can do at this point my phone is an iPhone 8 and my sisters phone is the older SE and she could get it so I don’t think it’s because of the age of my phone
