Trying to reinstall startup disc but macOS High Sierra says Recovery HD is locked- what do I do now?

You can't & don't want to install to the Recovery Partition,I can't read what the other one says but normally you install to Macintosh HD unless you renamed that one.
At what point does it say that?

Get an external drive & install to that...

I am a little out of my comfort zone here. Will probably just take it to the Apple store
