search broken in apple mail

I have Catalina 10.15.6 and suddenly - as of 2 hours ago -- I cannot search my emails at all. I've tried all the shift-mail-x 2 etc and nothing is working. Help!

MAIL SEARCH NOT WORKING I upgraded to Mac Ventura, now the search function in mail is not working properly. I have tested it numerous times and it can not find all emails from a particular client. anyone else having this issue? I enter the search mode and it may bring up one email and I can see multiple ones in my inbox. Sometimes it says 0 found and I know there are multiple emails there.

Problems with searching for mail since Catalina upgrade Since upgrading to Catalina, I am left being unable to search for emails using Apple Mail. When I type in the search box for a specific sender, it returns all of the emails in the system. I have tried rebuilding the mailbox but it makes no difference. Any suggestions greatly received. Kind regards Simon

If restarting the app and Mac do not help, try: Rebuild mailboxes in Mail on Mac

Can you find email messages in Spotlight?

If not, try reindexing Spotlight.
