Touch ID and Passcode Problems (that I’ve personally encountered)

Hi All! New here. I have experienced lots (but not so many) Touch ID and Passcode Problems and today, I want to clarify and ask the community on ways to probably fix these issues. I will tell 2 issues that I’d personally encounter.


1.

iPad cannot recognize my Fingerprint

a. There are times where my iPad doesn’t recognize my Fingerprint. But there are also times where the iPad said that I had restarted the phone and I have to retype the password even when I didn’t. It mostly happens if you accidentally pushed that Power off button and then if you press the cancel (since you accidentally pushed it) button, It says that it does not recognize my fingerprint. (BTW you can try it if you want but I don’t know if it applies to all iPads out there) Is it some kind of protection or security mechanism or is there teally something wrong with it.


2.

Passcode Problems

There are also times where I shutted off the screen and not the phone itself and after a couple of minutes (I guess about 30 minutes was the minimum that I’d experienced) to a few hours, It says that my iPad does not recognize my fingerprint/had restarted and I have to type the passcode. Plus there are times where I typed the correct passcode but it still says incorrect. Is it an security mechanism again, something wrong with my iPad, or some kind of bug that needs to be fixed.


My conclusion (for now):

There are things that are not perfect and I know that retyping passcodes are annoying (thats why they introduced Touch ID) but we hope that Apple can fix all of these problems.


Suggestions are appreciated and accepted but answers are a huge help for this problem. Hope to fix soon!

Thanks for the response! I wouldn’t call the question fix but from the response, Here’s what I like to say.


First, I guess I may probably not took care of the Touch ID but I will try to clean it regularly. Next, My second issue was the weird automatic thing where I suddenly restared my phone even though it didn’t (BTW never experienced this in a week after I created the post and before I made this comment) but I think it was just me forgetting that I’d restared my phone. The issue I’m still defending is when I accidentally turn off my iPad and I pressed cancel and it said that It does not recognize my fingerprint. Will try to update it to the latest one (iOS 14) and hope they fixed the issue. If this problem is gone, I think I may press the solved my question button but hope it works again. But from iOS 13.6 and lower, the bug or glitch or the weird thing happening, It still occurs. Thanks for the response but hope to fix the issue on new iOS versions!

  • To follow up on the answers. There were some that did work and some aren’t. First, after testing the effects of cleaning the Touch ID, it was near accurate. There were times that it did not recognized but most of my attemps worked. Second, The sudden iPad couldn’t recognize my fingerprint scene. As of now I had not encountered these issues (unless someone restarted it or I was low on the battery) I think it was just me restarting but I do not know for sure what caused it back then. And finally, the one thing I am still probably going to stand. The automatic Passcode retype after “accidental” press of the power button to exit. Well anything that he said did not work and It still continues. I think this is what Apple does on security features but for me, It’s kind of little annoying especially when you are sleeping when the mattress accidentally pressed the Power button (since you put effort and heavy force for the iPad on leaning to the side) Hope there is a function to turn this off. Anyways, I will make his answer solved but I will still stand on the accidental press of the Power Button. (Plus he answered most of my questions) Anyways, thanks for the answers and hope to give more questions so that I may help iPad users who have the same problems with me. 😊
