Mail stuck in "Copying Messages"

My mail is stuck in copying messages. I have "Copying 1 of 29" messages! I am receiving notification of new messages, but the first few lines of content not shown. How do I fix this?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand that Mail on your Mac is stuck on copying messages and will not load any new messages. We will be glad to assist. Let's force quit Mail, then restart your Mac and try again.
