audio does not play link from google drive

I have an mp3 audio file in Google Drive which I would like to share on FB via a link. This works happily on PCs and android but won't work on any IOS device. I can play the file using Google Drive directly on IOS devices when I am signed into Google Drive but the link just opens up a black page with the file details (so it's going to the right place) and a Play button - but the file doesn't play anything.

I think it used to a few months ago. I have tried changing the file type to .wav and .mp4 but nothing works.
