When will macOS big sur come out?

Other than "Coming this fall" a release date has not been announced. See: https://www.apple.com/macos/big-sur-preview/

You can get a sense of this from past release dates:

Only Apple knows. They say fall of this year, which can be anytime up to December 20th. But best guess is late this month or early October, using the past 7 major OS release dates as a guide.
