Error 43

I placed a large number of files in one folder in preparation to delete them, but when i sent it to the trash this message came up

The operation can’t be completed because one or more required items can’t be found.

(Error code -43)

Any ideas?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13

Hi, welcome to the Apple Users Community.

Please try holding down the option/alt key and emptying the trash.

If that doesn't work restart and try the trash empty again.
