Monthly workout summary, Totals and Averages

Hi, new to the community.

Prior to iOS 14, you were able to view your monthly workout stats including total and average workouts, time and calories for the month. Which was great as it was easy to compare this month to last year, year before etc.

Can someone please tell me how to find this one screen view under the new iOS ?

I am quite an active person, so record a lot of workouts each week and it is getting frustrating to be constantly scrolling through pages and pages to find my summary totals and averages.

TIA

Wait! I think I may have gotten it. On my summary page it says Workouts under Activity. If you click on show more I see the current month, and a chart with Total and Average at the top. It says Workouts, Time and Calories and it looks like it's all summed up for you there! I think this is what you were looking for. Let me know if you find it! I don't remember what it was like before, but if you scroll down through all your workouts in that month then you get to the month before that an all the workouts for that month. It is a bit of scrolling though.

Take care!

Ahh...I can see it now, but I'm not sure how it is calculating the data. For example, in the Health app, my exercise for October 2020 is 24 min. In the fitness app, my average exercise time is 35 min. Upon further review, I think the Health app taking the average of my daily "brisk" exercise recorded on my Apple Watch plus time recorded through initiating the Workout app on my watch.

This will work, but I would still like to see total activity minutes as displayed as a bar chart by month.

Thanks for pointing this out.

For those following this post, open the Health app, click on Activity, then click on today's activity summary and you can change the time period to show by Day, Month, Week, Year.

Hi!

The same thing happened to me and then I finally found it. I'm not 100% sure that this is what you want but when you open the fitness app and are on the summary page it should say Summary at the top and Activity underneath. In the activity section it says Move, Exercise, Stand, If you just click anywhere around that it should take you to a new screen. At the top should be the current date and in the upper right corner you will see a calendar. If you click on it it will bring up all your activity since your watch has been active. Let me know if this is what you are looking for!

Cheers!

Hi GeriWY,

I have logged it with the support desk but not had any update as yet, my query was being passed to ‘technical’ . I also had the impression that the latest update has done away with the old monthly summary page entirely! 😢. So really not happy, as I average about 50 workouts a month and it is a pain scrolling through.

Sorry I can’t be more helpful but I will update the post if/ when I get a response. In the meantime, I don’t think it would hurt if you also raised a request.

Hi DanielleM182,

Thanks for responding to my post but I am aware of the steps you suggested. I think it might be helpful for me to include pictures of what I am trying to find again, as it seems to have disappeared with the new update. The picture shows how the workout summary by month and year used to look, which is what I am trying to find. Since the update it shows the total and then a breakdown of each workout underneath... meaning endless scrolling through my many workouts before I get to last months total and no hope of comparing this month to last year at a glance.

Hope this makes it clear

It's still unfortunate that they took away something that was really easy and helpful. I record running, walking (just to cool down after a run) and what I call yoga, which is just some light stretching after a run. All of that shows up as exercise in the Health App summary, but I miss being able to quickly look at monthly summaries of my running statistics without having to scroll past the daily totals for each run. The summary data in the health app doesn't provide that. It's a minor problem of the first world variety no doubt, but a small instance of a change that made things worse rather than better.
