Black screen from a drop ipad pro

So my ipad pro took a little tumble, with a case on, the screen isn't cracked but it won't turn on past a backlit black screen. Right after the fall it actually restarted normally but then it froze and restarted again a couple times while I was trying to get the audio functioning again and now it's like this. I tried updating it via itunes but it runs into an error and says I have to restore it but I didn't have it backed up to iCloud and I'd really like to avoid losing all my files if at all possible. Is there anything I can do? I've made it restart normally several times but I can't even get the apple logo to come up except when it attempts to update via itunes.

Guess who's getting her files backed up right now after my fiance poked at it a bit? He didn't have to open it up or anything, he wouldn't know how to do that. Not sure exactly how he did it, he said he just pushed the home button a lot but that doesn't make sense to me since I did plenty of that too but oh well. Don't judge my apps/ email notifs, lol.

Sounds to me like something was physically damaged by the drop. You’ll need to take it or send it to Apple so they can figure out what that damage is, and offer you solutions to fix it. With iPads that usually means a service replacement device.

Its too late to worry about the data now though. You cannot back up a device that won’t boot the operating system and function normal. Backing up to iCloud or iTunes requires that.

I'm trying to at least get it to boot up all the way long enough to save my files even if the machine is still no good overall without repairs if that's all I can do for now. I tried updating it with itunes again and it said it finished this time but it didn't finish restarting afterwards (waited a while) and now I can't get it to turn on at all so that's just great.

Yes, and as I said, when the hardware is damaged or broken, there is no repeated process or procedural fix that will get you back to a working device.

That device is physically damaged. You cannot back it up. The one and the only “fix” will be to get the hardware repaired or replaced.

Either way, unfortunately your data is lost now. It is pointless and futile to try and “fix” the hardware in the hopes of now saving data that wasn’t backed up before it was damaged.

That’s like saying you want to make copies of family photos after your house has burned to the ground. You can sift through the ashes all you want. But the photos are gone.

You talk like you already know exactly how and how badly my hardware is busted meanwhile some people who drop them and get black screens here in these support forums got them to run again by smacking them ( yikes) you don't need to repeat yourself in increasingly condescending ways just because I'm still trying when it's likely a lost cause. I'm not here trying to bother you personally dude.

I am just saying the evaluation of the damage from Apple is free. So just take it in or send it in and find out what the issue is.

You're posting here asking for technical help with clearly damaged hardware. And yes, given all you’ve posted trying, it is clearly damaged hardware. You keep posting, but nothing is going to change. Your hardware is busted.

I am not trying to bust your chops either. But broken HARDWARE is broken hardware. Nothing you do other than getting it fixed or replaced is going to magically fix broken hardware.
