If you go to about this Mac found on the left side of the side of your screen under the large Apple icon, It will tell you what OS you have installed if you wanted the latest version, you would have to go to the App Store and look for it there or be signed into the beta channel for macOS software.You should also see if your Mac meets the software’s requirements, if it does, then you are good to go.

OK let me get right on that for you. You would look for Catalina in the App Store. And as for Mac OS beta software, you have to sign up for that just Google macOS beta software sign up.
