I have also received the exact same message in the same format today! I was also confused when I saw it but this has helped ease my mind, thank you!
Glad the thread has helped. It’s a worry when you don’t recognise something and you’ve got important and private stuff on your phone!
No, your should not be concerned about receiving the message. However, if you have an account with that name at HSBC contact the bank’s fraud department; at the least they will want to know about it. And if it is you then it’s likely that your identity has been stolen thanks to one of the many security breaches of major corporations. But do not click on the link.
I only clicked Dismiss and the message disappeared but I was concerned as to where it came from? It says it’s an SMS but it’s not showing in my messages. I have received fraudulent text messages before but never have they come through like this. My friend suggests perhaps one of my apps is dodgy so I’ve deleted various apps I don’t use, just crappy games and that kind of thing. Thank you for your response :)
It’s a “flash” message sent through your cellular provider. It’s actually illegal for anyone other that authorities to use them.
Oh I see ! Okay, I feel much better now, thank you for your help x
