Have you backed up your iPhone to a computer?

If you go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud is the iCloud Backup option turned on? also, is the switch on for Messages?

If the switch is turned on for Messages, you will not recover your messages.

If you locate an iPhone backup that would contain your messages, then you'd have to restore your entire iPhone to that backup. It wouldn't just be restoring messages.

the only way you can recover your messages would be if you have an iPhone backup that contains the messages. In which case you'd have to restore your iPhone to that backup. In doing so, you'd lose content between now and when your backup was made
