According to the Apple Online Store, all 44 mm straps work for the 42 mm Series 3 models. However, for the Solo Band, it says that only Series 4 or higher is supported. Why is that so?
Can the 44 mm variant of the Solo Band be attached to to the 42 mm Series 3 Apple Watch at all?

You can match most bands with any Apple Watch Series 3 or newer case of the same size. (For Apple Watch Series 3, the 40mm band works with the 38mm case; the 44mm band works with the 42mm case.)
The Solo Loop and Braided Solo Loop bands are only compatible with Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Series 4 or newer. The 40mm case works with band sizes 1–9; the 44mm case works with band sizes 4–12.
My question is if the joining ends are of the same design between 44 mm Series 4/5/6/SE and 42 mm Series 3, why couldn't the Solo Loop for the 44 mm case work with the 42 mm case?
