question on storage that is taken up when completing the process of boot camp

i was trying to ask support this question but they gave me the listed storage in articles and stuff but i want the actual amount (or more so a general person's input on the amount) and well, ok basically im wondering, could anyone here who uses windows on their macbook pro and splitting it between a flashdrive and computer (computer for boot, flashdrive for storage and the actual windows os) tell me exactly how much storage it takes up (for you personally) on the flash drive and also on your computer, i would've liked for my computer to depend on my flash drive to run windows but i guess thats not possible and it needs to take up storage on either all your computer, or some on your computer but the majority on the flash drive, but i just dont understand this fully from a raw perspective, so basically, i understand, i need to partition my disk for this so either way it wouldn't matter and the partition will have a fixed amount of available storage, but i still want to know, could someone tell me basically how much storage it takes up on your computer, and how much it takes up on your flash drive (ignoring the partition sizes, just purely looking at the used section for both), i would REALLY like some input on this because i'd love to do this, but this is my computer i use for school so i dont want it to take up TOO too much, and i would use it on my old late 2011 13 inch macbook pro but it for some odd reason doesn't work (like, literally it just wouldn't detect the iso of windows 8.1 (i tried windows 10 but it wasn't working so i just was like, yk what, i'll atleast try windows 8.1 just to be safe and well- still didnt work, so thats out of the question)), also tbh if you are seeing this but you do not use a flashdrive, you keep it all on your computer, tbh especially if im not getting too many answers, i'd like to know for you people as well how much it takes up on your computer, i hope someone will be able to help and please understand, i've read all the articles for boot camp on apples website, for both high sierra (for my 2011 macbook pro,) and also for catalina (for my 2017 macbook pro (my current, main one)), so please try not to link me to the basic apple support page for using boot camp, i've read it already, i just wanna know from peoples personal experiences (oh also another small question that i'd like to be answered maybe, but you dont have to, is, if i delete the windows stuff through boot camp, will everything ACTUALLY be deleted? or is it going to still leave behind a couple megabytes or gigabytes of things (basically like an imperfect deletion system for this), or when you delete it through bootcamp, everything gets deleted (like it should), because thats been another thought of mine)

Punctuation is a good thing. Your post is extremely hard to read and many who could help will just not bother.

To summarize your question: how much space is required to install Windows using Boot Camp?

In answer to your question: I always recommend at least 256GB space for your Boot Camp partition. If you were to go buy a Windows PC it would be hard to find one with less that 256GB internal drive. This provides enough space for Windows, installed apps, and generated data. Regarding external storage, I use a 500GB SSD attached all the time. This allows me to store a lot of data as needed. I also have an external backup drive.

im a bit confused though, why would i need then a 16 gb or larger flashdrive to do it using a flashdrive? because apple says you can use just your computer with no external flash drive or (if not supported) then you'll have to use your computer and a flash drive or something and they specify the flash drive needs atleast 16 gb or more but from what your saying, you cant use an external drive for windows? is there any clarification you could maybe give me by any chance on this in general (involving the flash drive side of things) (if not thats ok) (oh and im also aware now that the majority of things will take place on the computer, but im just confused on why the flashdrive is needed for older modeled computers)

sorry about the punctuation, i did recap quite frequently and if anything its a lot to ask, but basically i was wondering exactly how much it takes up overall, like, if i were to use a flash drive for windows, i was asking for peoples input on how much storage it takes up exactly for them personally on the flash drive, and how much storage it takes up on the actual computer itself (because you cant just make it use the flashdrive entirely), and i was asking because while yes, i need to partition anyways, i was curious on how much it took up for both so i knew just how much i should partition (ignoring the recommendations by apple), because i would partition only 64 gigabytes or something, but is that really enough? is it really going to need that much? idk, and i was explaining how i tried contacting apple about this but they weren't helping much because they were just all sending the same article that i already read before even contacting them to begin with, and it didn't even answer my question because i was asking how much it took up after the process was complete, not the recommended amount of storage and stuff (again, sorry about the punctuation)

ok that actually helped a lot with pointing in the right direction, but im still stuck on one thing, that is that it says you can use an iso image of windows that is downloaded, but on the contrary, it wont let me on my old mac, so like, your answer lines up with how its acting (not detecting the iso), but it doesn't say on the website that it cant use the iso, do you by any chance have an answer for this behavior of it? (its an old 13 inch late 2011 macbook pro)

An ISO image can be used on 2012 and later Macs.

Older Macs require the ISO to be Burned to a physical DVD. Do not use DVD-RW media. Use a DVD-R SL or DVD-R DL from a reputable brand.

A Flash drive on 2012-2014 Macs (or others which support USB Boot of Windows) is only the Windows installer. You can not use it as a Windows OS installation destination. In other words, do not use an external disk for running Windows OS. The YouTube videos on this subject are confusing and not useful.

Oh wow ok, i'll try that, i'm going to guitar center for my guitar lesson's (i've been playing for like, 4, 5 years now, i don't remember which one) in 30 minutes and after i'll pick up a dvd-r SL or DL of windows 8, whichever one happens to be at best buy and see if it works (also, with my own research, i found that window's 10 does not run on a late 2011 13 inch macbook pro, so i'll just get windows 8 if they have it), thank you and that clarified so much for me
