Hi! I have an Iphone 11 running IOs14 (same issues on 13) I have 3rd party bluetooth earbuds that connect but won't play sound through them. They work just Fine when connected to my Ipad. I have tried turning off the bluetooth on the Ipad, Removing the devive from both ipad and Iphone restarting the Iphone afterwards. When it recconects same thing. I get a popup showing its connected but no sound. Please help!!

I faced similar issue. Try connecting only one device at a time to your headphones. Seems like it's not switching audio between multiple devices. That worked for me!

We understand that your Bluetooth headphones aren't working with your iPhone as expected, and we'll gladly take a closer look into what's going on. It sounds like you've already done a lot of great troubleshooting on your own! To clarify, is the iPad using iPadOS 14 as well, or a different OS version?
If so, does the audio output on the iPhone show that it should be playing sound through the earbuds once they're connected? Here's how to check, and switch the audio output if need be:

If the output shows the Bluetooth headphones, what happens if you increase the volume level as well?

Same Issue. Connected. Paired. Restarted phone. Nothing worked. Until I left the game I was playing on my iPad next to me. Then my last podcast came through headphones. I tested it a few times. Including with YouTube. It worked. In fact-once it started I could go back to the game and it stayed on. If I pause video or podcast, and leave game on-it stops working until I kill the game window. Who knows how long that will be. But somehow this one app on iPhone is overriding my BT connection to my headset for sounds on my phone.
I have the same problem - can’t use the stupid iphone 11 with any Bluetooth device... May be it’s the standard Apple
politics after all - remove all other options and buy only apple devices so they can work together 🤬 I am really tired of all this ...
How I fixed this problem

The Ipad is on ios14 as well. On the iphone the headphones connect and pair but I cannot get the audio output to change. The 1st time I used them they worked fine (still do on the ipad) when I used them a second time no audio. That's when i tried everything I know to troubleshoot, but to no avail. If i try to change the audio output by selecting them in the menu, I get the spinner indicating it's thinking but ultimately does not "check" the circle. Again no issues using them with the ipad.
The headphones are Bluetooth. The instructions provided are for plug in types.
I have this same problem with my IPhone 11 and my Beats pro headphones
I also have the same issue. Tried to forget the device and re-connect that didn’t work.
Have the same issue. Only difference - sometimes it works!
But sometimes AirPods (2nd Gen) connected, but sound goes to iPhone. TurnOn/TurnOff Bluetooth doesn't help, Forget device doen't help. Only rebooting the iPhone helps. This is crazy.
