Question

Caller ID City State displays United States IOS update

After updating IOS in SEP 2020, my incoming calls no longer display City and State but rather United States.

iPhone 7, iOS 14

We understand from your post that your incoming calls are only showing United States as a location that they are coming from instead of the city and state. First, update your carrier settings as directed in the article below:

In a situation like this we recommend backing up your iPhone and reinstalling the software. The following article has the steps on how to backup your iPhone:

By using the steps as listed under the heading "Put your device in recovery mode and set it up again" from the following article you can reinstall the software on your iPhone:

Well lo and behold it is NOW working after Apple updated its operating system 14.1 last night. After Apple saying it's AT&T's problem and AT&T saying it's Apple's problem, not to mention several hours and reboots on my phone in an attempt to correct what was screwed up by apple in some upgrade before 14.1. It's a classic where a large corporation has gotten too big to manage. So disappointed, but happy it's working again.

My carrier AT&T cannot solve the problem. It stands to reason that my iPhone was working correctly before upgrading to 14.1 and now it is not, that it is an IOS Apple issue. ALSO, after I end my call, in the RECENT calls it will show the City and State.

Thanks for the response. This seems pretty radical to correct the problem and not sure if I’m willing to go the distance on this because it gets into configuring all my apps etc all over again. I have to think is it worth the trade off. Thanks again.
