Why does my MacBook Air keep telling me I am on the verge of running out of iCloud storage space when my account says I have a lot of space still available?

Good Afternoon rosspumfrey,

We see that you're seeing a notification that your iCloud storage is nearing the capacity, and we understand wanting to know why this is appearing. You've come to the right place for assistance with this.

Which macOS version are you seeing this occur with? If there is an update available, are you able to install this to see if the message remains?

As you've already checked to see how much available space is there and confirmed that you have enough, we'd recommend checking to see what options you have enabled to backup to iCloud to see if there may be an option that could be attempting to backup a larger backup than what is available for your storage. To check out the preferences that you have turned on, take a look at the following resource:

Manage your iCloud storage

In addition to this, do you us iCloud Mail on your Mac? If so, do you see that Mail is taking up a large portion of your storage?

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Have a great day!
