Random streaks/lines appear when I’m write on my iPad.

Random streaks/lines keep appearing on my iPad anytime I try to write. I use my Apple Pencil (1st generation) as my only tool for writing on my iPad pro. These random streaks appear when I write in Good notes and the regular notes app that comes with IOS devices. I know it’s not my Apple Pencil because when I tried to write on my sister’s iPad everything works fine. How can I fix my iPad’s palm sensitivity. Is there anything else I can do?

I suggest a forced-restart of your iPad - as this will often resolve an isolated issue:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On an iPad with Face ID: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

If the screen sensitivity continues to exhibit issues:

Should difficulties persist, you would be best advised to seek assistance directly from Apple. A visit to the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store will provide opportunity for the technicians to test and evaluate the problem.

Alternatively, you might contact Apple Support. Being remote, they are obviously less able to witness and evaluate the problem, but do have some remote diagnostic capability. You’ll find the Contact Support link at top-right of this page.

You can also start a support case using the Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, it can be downloaded from the Apple App Store:

I hope this information and guidance proves to be helpful to you.

I may have a suggestion:

If you are using a case and screen protector, try exposing some of the metal on the side of the iPad and keeping a finger on it while you write with the other hand. Perhaps when you are writing you are generating some static electricity that is interfering with the pencil and iPad.

Please post a reply if this works for you. If it does, maybe someone from apple support could chime in on an actual fix?

Hope this helps!
