Hyperx headset not connecting

i got a new pair of hyperx alpha headphones that says they work with mobile. when i try to connect them with my iphone 10 with a “dongle” or the aux cord to connect headphones, they say there is an accessory connected but the sound and mic is still coming out of my phone, is there anything i can do to stop this?

wired headphone with iphone XS Max I needed to use a wired headphone; so I purchased a lightning to 3.5mm connector and plugged it in. The audio on various music apps/audio books etc. work fine. However the phone does not work (with the wired headset - it works fine in bluetooth mode). Any idea what I need to do.
